What is aMT?
aMT, α-Methyltryptamine, Indopan, alpha-methyltryptamine or aMT is a compound known as a tryptamine and is extremely similar in chemical properties to the naturally occurring psychedelic Dimethyltryptamine or DMT. aMT acts in vitro (outside living organism) as a stimulant and entactogen compound, via it’s releasing capabilities of Seretonin, Norepinephrine and Dopamine. It was originally developed as an antidepressant in the 1960’s.

What is aMT used for?
However, as aMT is a research chemical and not for any in vivo testing, it is useful for profiling it’s in vitro effects upon the seretonin receptor to which it is a nonselective agonist. aMT is also useful for profiling the enzyme monoamine oxidase to which it acts as a nonselective reversible inhibitor.

aMT may be used for primary reagent testing, as well as a reference sample for analytical libraries, such as GC/MS, HPLC, NMR and FTIR analysis. Toxicologists and forensic scientists may utilize these chemical analyses.
