What is RTI-126?
RTI-126 or ((–)-2β-(1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-methyl)-3β-phenyltropane)is a Phenyltropane derivative research chemical. Phenyltropanes are chemicals which were first developed as a substitute for people with Cocaine addiction and dependence Due to the chemical nature of RTI-126, it is thought that RTI-126 is up to 6X more chemically potent than Cocaine, in vitro (outside living organism). Having some selectivity for the Dopamine transporter, RTI-126 still binds to all three monoamine transporters. These are the Dopamine, Seretonin and Norepinephrine transporter proteins. Chemical properties of RTI-126 suggest that it would have a fast onset of action towards the transporter proteins as well as a short duration of action, in vitro.

What is RTI-126 used for?
Due to the action that RTI-126 would have upon the three monoamine transporter proteins, it would be useful to completely profile its action on an appropriately infused membrane, containing the proteins. This experiment could be done by measuring the affinity, duration of action and general efficacy this novel compound has when applied, in vitro, to these transporter proteins.
